WATERLOGGED CITY-ROAD

Does this type of city scene on the 30th of June, 2018 after the heavy rain for about an hour get captured in Smart City Bhubaneswar Control Room in Bhavani Mall ? I don't think it does; nor should.

This chaos is not city specific; it is endemic to Bharat, right from Delhi to Jhumritalaiyya. We resent, make nasty remarks, curse the government; the phenomenon, however, persists.

There are of course exceptions. Here are a few examples. Just five months after 23 people died due to the Elphinstone bridge collapse in Mumbai, a new foot over-bridge was constructed by the Indian Army and it was thrown open to the public.

The Army was approached by the Delhi Government after a 95-metre-long under-construction foot overbridge came crashing down on September 21, 2010 causing a major embarrassment to the country. The Army handed over the newly-built Bailey foot overbridge outside the main Commonwealth Games venue Jawaharlal Nehru stadium to the Delhi government, only six days after it was tasked to construct it.

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) completed the construction of a railway bridge between Theruvali and Singapur Road in Rayagada district in a record time of 200 days.

I doubt if India's sense pf professionalism would ever show the same alacrity over every case of aberration. I foresee no respite for the Indian cacophony over aberrations; it seems it is blessed with immortality.
